Shirien O. Coover, MPAS, PA-C, Certified Physician Assistant:

 

Shirien O. Coover, MPAS, PA-C, Certified Physician Assistant, specializes in Dermatology and has been with Dr. Dano since March 2004. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin in 1997.

 

Following graduation, Shirien conducted research in Psychiatry at the University of Utah. Shirien and her husband decided to take some time out of their studies and be of service to humanity in Yueyang, Hunan Province, Peoples Republic of China, and taught English for the 1998-1999 school year.

 

In 2003 she completed her Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. She held a cumulative 4.0 GPA throughout the program. Shirien has earned a multitude of honors, awards, and scholarships, including one by her faculty and peers in PA school for her character and academic achievements.She is a member of the Alpha Eta Society, an Allied Health Honor Society.

 

Shirien is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and licensed by the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners. She is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Texas Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.

 

As a Physicians Assistant, she is licensed to treat, diagnose, and prescribe for dermatological medical conditions, such as acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, and hairloss. She is trained to perform full body skin exams, skin cancer screenings and procedures which include: shave biopsies, punch biopsies, curettage, and cryotherapy. In addition, she has experience working with lasers for the treatment of vitiligo, psoriasis, and dilated blood vessels.

 

In her free time, Shirien enjoys cooking, spending time with family and friends, and traveling.
